The JCMS renovation project aims to enhance the learning environment and address the needs of the expanding student body.
Designed to provide more comfortable and functional spaces for students and staff, this project includes 2,825 square feet of renovated classroom space and a 1,195-square-foot cafeteria addition.
Interior renovations include new science lab casework in two existing classrooms, installation of retractable bleachers in the gymnasium, locker room upgrades, re-striping of the gymnasium floor to reflect the new school mascot, logo, and colors, upgrades to student restrooms as well as the addition of a private restroom for faculty, additional storage space for custodial staff, the creation of a new private conference room for administrative purposes, and the installation of a new HVAC system throughout the entire building.
Exterior renovations include a new outdoor seating area adjacent to the cafeteria addition, a new courtyard with an outdoor basketball court and security fencing, a complete replacement of the 60,450 square foot metal roof, a new bus loop canopy, new loop drive connection for student drop-off and pick-up, repair and installation of new asphalt pavement, and a new concrete dumpster pad.
The anticipated year-long project may affect pedestrian and traffic flow around the school and the Board is dedicated to keeping the community informed as this project progresses. Parents and students will receive regular communication from the Board regarding these impacts with information on what to expect and how to prepare for a smooth drop-off and pick-up experience.
This project reflects the Jackson County Board of Education’s commitment to providing a safe, modern, and supportive educational environment for all students. The improvements will not only address immediate capacity needs but also contribute to the long-term sustainability of the school’s infrastructure.
